Geminids Summit Camp, Jindhagada

Camp on the highest peak of Andhra Pradesh on the peak night of the Geminid meteor shower

Camp on the peak night of the Geminids, the richest meteor shower of the year, high on Jindhagada.

The Geminids Summit Camp is a 2-day, 1-night guided camping trek to Jindhagada (1,690 m) in Andhra Pradesh on 13–14 December 2026, timed for the Geminid meteor shower. ₹5,250 per person (₹5,000 for couples, families and groups, ₹3,500 for children 6–12) includes transport from Visakhapatnam, five meals, camping and a trek lead.

Jindhagada — locally known as Seethamma Konda — rises to 1,690 m in Hukumpeta Mandal, and is home to the Kond, Valmiki, Bhagata, Kondadora and Koyedora communities. Trekking here is more than a summit: ancient forests, crystal streams, coffee plantations and the living culture of the Eastern Ghats. On 13–14 December the trek is timed for the Geminid meteor shower: after the campfire, the dark sky above the ridge camp is yours for stargazing.

Questions, answered

When is the Geminids Summit Camp 2026 and where does it start?

The camp runs 13–14 December 2026, two days and one night. Pickup from Visakhapatnam is at about 6:00 AM on the first day, and you are back in the city on the evening of the second day.

How much does the Geminids Summit Camp 2026 cost?

₹5,250 per person, ₹5,000 each for couples, families and groups, and ₹3,500 for children (6–12). It includes transport from Visakhapatnam, five meals, tents and sleeping bags, a trek lead and first-aid support.

Where do we sleep and what do we eat?

In tents near the summit. Tents, mattresses and sleeping bags are all provided. You get five fresh-cooked meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner on day 1, breakfast and a home-cooked village lunch on day 2.

When is the best time to watch the Geminids?

The Geminids peak on the night of 13–14 December. After the campfire we stay out for stargazing under a dark sky. Clear skies matter, so meteor counts are never guaranteed.

Is it suitable for beginners?

Yes. The pace is steady and beginner-friendly, and children from 6 years join with family. Winter nights can drop to 4°C, so pack layers.

What is the cancellation policy?

A 50% contribution confirms your place. Refunds: 7 or more days before the trek, 75% is refunded; within 7 days, there is no refund.

“Everything was very well organised — travel, food, camping and safety. Special thanks to live encyclopedia Naveen, for teaching the kids fire-lighting, diving in natural pools, and endless facts about nature and village life.”
